Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, surrounding a central red enameled square medallion bearing a black and white checkered centrepiece, overlaying a ribbed void, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, stamped with a makers mark of C. E. JUNCKER, BERLIN, a
